The 16th International Festival of Children and Youth Media "Sunflower" has become one of the main events of the Humanitarian Project of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly EURASIA KIDS. Both children and adults are waiting for the holiday every year. This year, the main theme of the festival is the Tales of the Peoples of Eurasia.
Ebrima Mbenga (Gambia), mentor of the EURASIA KIDS project, spoke about what African fairy tales are like.
The master class from the international Mbenga family became one of the most interesting at the festival. In the family of Ebrima and Ksenia, a son, Kirill, is growing up. Together they took part in fabulous photo sessions and showed children how to play African drums.
Ebrima came to Russia several years ago. He is from a large family, the eldest of six of his siblings. In Russia he graduated from the university and received the qualification of a builder. However, creativity became the main thing for him. He created the show of African drums "African Hearts", and together with his wife, Ksenia, managed to take part in the program "Fashionable Sentence" on Channel One.
At the Sunflower festival, Ebrima spoke about the drums that he brought to Russia from his homeland, from West Africa, and showed how the drum works. All African drums are made from mahogany wood. In Africa, they take very seriously the choice of wood species from which the drum is made. The drums are covered with goatskin. There are three types of beats one needs to know to play African drums. At the master class, everyone learned to play drums - both adults and children. In addition, Ebrima, together with his friends, congratulated his longtime partner of the festival - the Izhevsk Zoo on its birthday, which turned 13 years old.
