Svetlana Smirnova held a Working Meeting with the Coordinators of the International Memory and Gratitude Relay

On November 26, at the headquarters of the Eurasian Peoples 'Assembly in Moscow, a working meeting discussed the International Megaproject of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER - for Peace and Creation” and the unification of public initiatives in preserving the memory of the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War.

Representatives of the Organizing Committee of the International Memory and Gratitude Relay “Homeland of Feat - to the Homeland of a Hero” visited the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.

The meeting was attended by: from the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly - First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat Svetlana Smirnova, Deputy Secretary General Stanislav Korolyov, Head of the “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER – for Peace and Creation” project Valery Ruzin and Deputy Head of the General Secretariat for Humanitarian Cooperation Irina Polyakova; from the Organizing Committee of the International Relay of Memory and Gratitude “Homeland of Feat - to the Homeland of a Hero” - Director of the Institute of Social Memory, member of the Presidium of the Academy of Military Sciences, Coordinator of the International Relay of Memory and Gratitude “Homeland of Feat - to the Homeland of a Hero” Alexander Uzhanov, head of the group of historical and legal expertise, Doctor Historical Sciences Oleg Matveev and the head of the group of television and multimedia projects Alevtina Polyakova.

In the course of the conversation, the participants outlined the ways of cooperation on the issues of preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War, the formation and development of twin-city relations between the settlements of Russia and the countries of Eurasia.

The International Memory and Gratitude Relay “Homeland of Feat - to the Homeland of a Hero” dates back to 2010 as a people's diplomatic activity on involving regional communities and active citizens of different countries in the processes of perpetuating the memory of the victorious Soviet soldiers and their allies in the anti-Hitler coalition in the Second World War, the formation of a single military memorial space in Eurasia. The basis of the International Relay is formed by inter-municipal agreements of twinning, concluded on a wide range of cooperation on the basis of reconstructed exploits and updated combat biographies of Heroes of the Soviet Union and full holders of the Orders of Glory. School and student youth, youth army divisions, scientific, sports, business and expert communities participate and render full assistance to the Relay. Today, on the basis of the heroic destinies of individual people, 14 twin-city pairs have been formalized, more than twenty are under development. Settlements of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Austria, Hungary in this work, Germany, Spain, Poland and France are involved in the process.
