On September 8, 2020, on the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Siege of Leningrad, a solemn meeting and the of the foundation-stone-laying ceremony for the future monument in honour of the 63rd (136th) Guards Rifle Division took place in the Shcheglovo village.
The event was held as part of the International patriotic action “The Road of Life - Road of Military Glory” of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly. The action is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory and the 80th anniversary of the legendary Road of Life. The aim of the action is to award the Road of Life the title of “Road of Military Glory”.
The action was attended by the Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Stanislav Korolyov and the Head of the Representation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in the Leningrad region (Russia) Yuri Palamarchuk.
Representatives of different nationalities served at the 63rd Guards Rifle Division. There was not a single republic of the Soviet Union that did not take part in the battles on the Leningrad land. The warriors who defended Leningrad were bound by a real military friendship. The peoples of the former USSR have a common history, common sorrow and common Victory achieved together.
It is planned to lay out the Memory Park, a memorial complex in honour of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, around the monument, the foundation-stone laying of the stone of which took place on September 8, 2020.

In December 1941, a regiment was transferred to Leningrad from Finland to strengthen the defence of the Leningrad land. It was located on the territory of the Scheglovsky settlement. In March 1942, the brigade was reorganized into the 136th Rifle Division of the Leningrad Front. In 1943, the 136th Rifle Division was awarded the honorary title of “Guards” for the heroism and courage shown in breaking the Siege of Leningrad. At the same time, it was renamed the 63rd Guards Rifle Division.
On June 6, 2020, at the initiative of the Representation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in the Leningrad Region (Russia) and the St. Petersburg Peace and Accord Council, the International Patriotic Action “The Road of Life - Road of Military Glory” was launched. The action is widely supported by the international community. It includes a number of patriotic events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory and the 80th anniversary of the legendary Road of Life. The action is included in the International megaproject of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly “VICTORIOUS TOGETHER - in the name of Peace”.
