The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly invites Young Writers to participate in the Project “Eurasian School of Poetry after Valery Bryusov”

The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly launches a new project “Eurasian School of Poetry after Valery Bryusov”.

the project “Eurasian School of Poetry. Valery Bryusov” was developed by the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations “Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly” with the participation of the Council for Business Communications of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly. The project’s main goal is to preserve and further develop the best traditions of Eurasian poetry through the support of young writers.

“The project will include a course of lectures, seminars on national and confessional motifs in Russian literature (peoples, cities and countries; ancient, Slavic-pagan, Biblical-Gospel, Islamic, Buddhist motifs, and so on). Also, a conversation is planned about the problems and history of poetic translation. The course is designed for writers who want to contribute to the development of intercultural relations of the Eurasian peoples, the revival of the skill of literary translations, the continuity of the literary heritage of Valery Bryusov,” - says Irina Polyakova, project coordinator, Head of the Department of Spiritual Culture of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly.

The project manager and expert of the School is Mikhail Sinelnikov, poet, translator, literary critic, academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences and Arts.

“Mikhail Sinelnikov is truly a Eurasian poet. Preserving the best traditions of the Silver Age in his own poems, he united the literary heritage of many peoples of the continent. He wrote dozens of collections of translations of his contemporaries and classics of poetry from Europe and Asia: the Azerbaijani poet Khakani, the Iranian-Tajik Saadi, Hafiz and Rudaki, Indian texts from Sanskrit and many more representatives of world literature in many languages. The work of Mikhail Sinelnikov is an example of serving spiritual culture through the harmony of thought and word,” - says Irina Polyakova.

The authors of the project believe that a critical review of the literary heritage of the Eurasian peoples led to a break with the tradition that existed in the Soviet era. The feeling of the inviolability of the hierarchy was replaced by a new generation of contempt for the classics and craftsmanship as such. The role of the translation of works of art, the exchange of knowledge, thoughts and feelings between peoples and their cultures has noticeably decreased. The influence of poetry on the modern culture of peoples has been extremely weakened. In the current situation, the creation of the Eurasian School of Poetry is one of the real forms of reviving the best literary and general cultural traditions of the peoples of Eurasia.
