“Protect the Memory of Victory” - this is the motto of the 7th Session of the International Public Forum “Preserving the Memory of the Second World and the Great Patriotic Wars” held on July 7 – 15.
The moderators of the online meetings were: Valery Ruzin, Head of the "Immortal Memory" project, President of the Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio; Ramil Rakhimov, Head of the Department of Russian History, Historiography and Source Studies of the Institute of History and Public Administration, Bashkir State University; Yegor Yakovlev, Director of the Digital History Research Foundation, author of the book The War of Destruction: Nazi Plans for the Genocide of the Soviet People.
More than 60 people from 15 countries of the world took part in the discussion: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Germany, Georgia, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Moldova, Republika Srpska, Russia, Uzbekistan, France.
In the course of a frank and unbiased conversation, the issues of memory of the Second World War in the countries of the allies in the anti-Hitler coalition, the reasons and consequences of attempts to revise history, the tasks of historical science in preserving the memory of the results of the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War and other modern problems were considered.
The participants shared their experience of attracting young people to the study of the history of the twentieth century, the practices of the history museums, examples of preserving historical memory in the world cinema.
As part of the International Public Forum, presentations of specific projects and practices took place. Constructive proposals were made regarding the continuation of work within the "Immortal Memory" megaproject.
