Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrei Belyaninov met with composer, founder of the Institute of Classical Music of the Kingdom of Bahrain Waheed Al Khan.

The composer came to Russia to perform at the large-scale festival “Rosa Khutor. Classics" within international cultural cooperation between Russia and the Kingdom of Bahrain. The maestro presented the audience with symphonic compositions included in the recent album “Return to Life”.

“The album’s musical compositions reflect the desire to find an intermediate language between Western academic music with its complex symphonic texture, percussion and colorful rhythmic forms characteristic of Eastern music in general, and Bahrain in particular, where the listener wanders through spaces without borders,” - shared Waheed Al Khan in a conversation with the Secretary General. He added that culture and art are soft power that plays a big role in uniting peoples.

Andrei Belyaninov told the maestro about the television music festival “Voice of Eurasia,” which was initiated by the representative office of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly in the Republic of Bashkortostan under the leadership of the Prime Minister of Bashkiria Andrei Nazarov. The Secretary General invited Waheed Al Khan to take part in the project which is supposed to unite musicians from different countries into one orchestra.

“The performance of musicians from different countries in one orchestra can become the apotheosis of any festival,” - the Secretary General emphasized.

Waheed Al Khan accepted the offer and noted his willingness to assist in uniting musicians and composers from different countries of Eurasia.

“Music doesn’t need translation. I used to play the oboe. My teacher was a Russian who didn’t know Arabic, and I didn’t know Russian, but we didn’t have any difficulties in understanding each other,” - the composer shared.

Andrei Belyaninov also invited Waheed Al Khan to think about creating the Eurasian Trade Union of Artists and to get involved in the work of its formation. The composer supported this idea and noted that after meetings at the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, he is ready to become a conduit of the Assembly’s plans in the Arab Gulf countries.
