The Memorial to the 28 Panfilov Heroes became the central venue of the large -scale International Action. It was where Svetlana Smirnova, First Deputy Secretary - General and Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, launched an Action of Commemoration that once again united the countries defeated fascism - the former Soviet Union.
Representatives of all the former Soviet Republics have made contact to cherish the memory of that terrible war, when people of different nationalities and faiths defended the country together and put an end to the inhuman fascist death machine.
The participants of the Action were welcomed by the Head of the Volokolamsk district Mikhail Silka. Deputies of the Council of Deputies of the district, members of local branches of the United Russia and the Young Guard, veterans, representatives of youth and public organizations lit symbolic candles and laid flowers at the foot of the Memorial to 28 Panfilov Heroes.
Words of mourning for the dead and pride for the victorious heroes were heard in different languages of the former great country. It was on June 22, at 4 a.m. – to remind that the Great Patriotic war began 79 years ago.
