The UAE hosted the III Forum of the Federation of Rectors of Russian and Arab Universities

From May 30 to June 2, 2023, Sharjah (UAE) hosted the III Forum of the Federation of Rectors of Russian and Arab Universities.

The forum was attended by the President of the Russian Union of Rectors, the Rector of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Academician Viktor Sadovnichy, Deputy Emir of Sharjah, President of the University of Sharjah Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Minister of Education of the United Arab Emirates Ahmad Abdullah Humaid Abdullah Belhul Al Falasi, Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities, Professor Amr Ezzat Salama, Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky, as well as the Minister of Education of the Republic of Yemen Yahya Badr al-Din al-Houtsi.

The forum was also attended by more than 20 deputy ministers of education and science from the Arab states, 57 rectors of Russian universities, 170 rectors of Arab universities.

The work of the forum was held in the format of plenary and session sessions dedicated to strategies for cooperation between universities and youth development programs. Representatives of the international academic community discussed the organization of joint scientific and academic programs, as well as a number of other topics requiring increased attention in the modern world. On the sidelines of the forum, agreements were signed and agreements on further cooperation were stipulated.

The communiqué adopted at the end of the forum states the need to facilitate academic exchanges between Arab and Russian universities, to promote accreditation and prestige in international rankings, and to follow the pace of digital transformation in higher education. The document was signed by the Rector of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Academician Viktor Sadovnichy and Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities Amr Ezzat Salama.

The International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "Eurasian Peoples' Assembly" was represented at the forum by the head of the Department for Sustainable Development of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, Dr. Yaser Alaham. He spoke about the main projects of the international union in the scientific and educational sphere. Yaser Alaham also emphasized that in modern realities, the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly is a platform for cooperation between Russian and Arab universities.

The representative of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly reached agreements on signing cooperation agreements with the universities of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Lebanese Republic, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the Algerian People's Democratic Republic and the State of Palestine.

In addition, with the support of the Lebanese Ministry of Education, it is planned to open a Representative Office of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in the Lebanese Republic in October this year.
