"Streets of Our Heroes": Radmir Zabirov about Petr Rogalev Street (Ufa)

On "Radio Russia - Bashkortostan" there is a cycle of programs "Streets of Our Heroes", organized by the Representation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in the Republic of Bashkortostan. Within the project in honor of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, famous people of the republic talk about the famous heroes of the war and home front workers of the republic, whose names are immortalized in the names of the streets as a tribute to the courage and self-sacrifice of these people.

The Chairman of the Committee for Support and Development of Industry of the Representation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in the Republic of Bashkortostan Radmir Zabirov spoke about the street named after Petr Rogalev.

The street named after Colonel, Hero of the Soviet Union Pyotr Rogalev is located in the Nagaevo district of the city of Ufa.

Colonel Pyotr Rogachev took part in battles on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. He served in a rifle regiment. In 1943 he graduated from intensive courses at the M.V. Frunze Military Academy named. On May 8, 1944, he broke through the heavily fortified enemy defenses near the city of Sevastopol and hoisted a red flag at a height of 256.2. The successful actions of the regiment contributed to the development of a general offensive and the liberation of the villages of Kaitany and Inkerman. His regiment was one of the first to break into the city of Sevastopol. For the successful command of the regiment, courage and heroism shown in battles against the German fascist invaders, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal and many other awards.

After the war, Pyotr Rogalev continued to serve in the Soviet army. Since1959 to 1963 he held the post of military commissar of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. After retiring, he lived in Ufa, worked as Deputy Chairman of the Bashkir regional committee of DOSAAF, was elected a Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the BASSR of the V convocation.

The name of the Hero is carved on the plates of the memorial complex in the Victory Park in Ufa and on the memorial plaque installed on the building of the Military Commissariat of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
