MINSK, October 28 - Sputnik. General Secretary of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Andrey Belyaninov received gratitude from Russian President Vladimir Putin “for a great contribution to the development of the Union State and the strengthening of Russian-Belarus cooperation”.

Previously, Belyaninov served as the Head of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), and Belarus is one of the participants of the bank. The EDB's investments in the Republic over the entire period of cooperation amounted to more than $ 1.5 billion. In particular, the Bank signed a major agreement with Belaruskali. This project was a modernization of production and construction of a new mine.

Also Belyaninov considers the activities of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly to be a significant project for the development of the Union State.

“The Assembly was organized 3.5 years ago, and more than 60 countries supported the establishment of this organization. For us, this project is like a child, and now it has started to live, to get back on its feet. We have made many presentations about the Assembly work in many countries. Now we prepare an important event - the International sports games EURASIADA. We plan to hold the games in Ufa; the date is currently being determined. The project has already been approved by the leadership of Bashkortostan and the Ministry of sports of Russia,” - he said.

Belyaninov also noted the role of Sputnik in covering the Assembly's activities.

“I am very grateful to Sputnik and I admire it: no matter how you are criticized by our “worst friends”, you only become stronger, more interesting and meaningful. Of course, interaction with Sputnik is a great honour for us. We understand what kind of audience you have, how many countries and languages you broadcast,” - he said.

The International Union of non-governmental organizations “Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly” was established in 2017. The organization focuses on the Eurasian integration of peoples through diplomatic, cultural, and trade ties.
