Nowadays, the installation of a high relief in memory of the historic Victory Parade, which took place on June 24, 1945 on Red Square, is a necessary step in the development of our society, in preservation of historical memory and the protection of historical truth. These issues were discussed at a conference in the TASS press center dedicated to the grand opening of the high relief.

The International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "The Eurasian Peoples' Assembly" and the All-Russian Public Organization "Russian Union of Veterans" supported by the Public Organization "Association of Higher School Alumni" initiated the creation and opening of the high relief. The ceremony is timed to coincide with the Day of Military Glory: “September the 3d - Victory Day over militaristic Japan and the end of World War II (1945)”.

The author of the high relief is Vladimir Surovtsev, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, member of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.

The installation of a high relief in honor of the first Victory Parade is, first of all, an initiative of cultural figures, supported by the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly which became a driving force of the initiative, said Andrey Belyaninov, Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly during the press conference. He also emphasized that, first of all, this is done to preserve historical memory and for the sake of future generations:

“... It never occurred to our grandfathers, great-grandfathers - the winners in that war, that relatively little time would pass and Nazism would raise its head on our planet. This is a serious warning to all of us living here. The opening of the high relief, especially at such a famous place, on Manezhnaya Square, next to the places and roads that the participants in the Victory Parade passed through, is absolutely no coincidence and is very important for us. But most important is the idea for whom all this is being done - for young people, for our future generations.”

Also, Mr. Belianinov announced an initiative that, in his opinion, can unite people around the world, despite possible interstate disagreements:

“We propose, regardless of political, interstate contradictions, to convene once again the Conference of the countries participating in the anti-Hitler coalition. If this cannot be done through the official diplomatic channel, then I think it can be done through caring people around the world. How many years have passed, and yet not all the secrets of that war, those events are known to the public.”

Soviet and Russian military leader, Major General, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Union of Veterans Vladimir Romanenko emphasized that the installation of a high relief in honor of the first Victory Parade in the center of the capital is a very important step:

“... Because often many do not even know about the Victory Parade, which took place on June 24, 1945. But this parade was attended by the winners who hoisted the Banner of Victory over the Reichstag in Berlin. 35 thousand 315 military personnel of our country participated there, and they were all winners who went through the most difficult battles and brought Victory to our people.”

Despite severe trials and heavy losses, our country has defended its independence, its truth of the winner, he added.

“And now, after many years, every resident of the country will be able to come to Red Square and see these moments of our history immortalized,” said Romanenko.

It is the only possible way to return to our young generation an understanding of our history, knowledge of those difficult trials that our people got, the military leader is sure.

“The choice of the date to hold the grand opening of the high relief on this day connects two important dates in our history - May 9 and September 3 - and reminds our people and the whole world of the date of June 24, 1945,” - said Andrey Denisov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.

As can be seen from the newsreel, it was a rainy day, our commanders, marshals were one on the black horse, the other on the white horse. Columns of fronts and fleets were in formation, the senator recalled.

“The summit of the Parade was the moment when our soldiers, wearing white gloves so as not to get their hands dirty on the Nazi banners, threw them to the foot of the Mausoleum. This is forever with us, and I would like it to be forever in the history of all mankind, and we will all make sure that it is so.” - said Denisov.

He added that the sculptural composition, which will be opened in honor of the Victory Parade, is made in line with the best examples of the Russian national, realistic, military memorial art tradition, and this is the main advantage of this work.

The composition depicts Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov, who hosted the Victory Parade, and the commander of the parade, Marshal of the Soviet Union Konstantin Rokossovsky.

“In the background on the right side is the line of generals, where there is an inscription “The 2nd Belorussian Front” on the standard. It is just with respect to Konstantin Konstantinovich Rokossovsky, I am very friendly with the family of Konstantin Konstantinovich. And my father fought on the 2nd Belorussian Front. For me, the high relief is like his Order of Glory, a symbol of bravery, courage and fearlessness. In the center - the image of officers, and on the left side - the orchestra. Above is the standard and coat of arms of the Soviet Union... Artistic images, of course, contribute to the preservation of historical memory. The high relief will be such a visual page of history for all guests of the capital, for the younger generation,” - said Vladimir Surovtsev, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, member of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly.

According to the Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, Head of the International Film Festival "Won together" Valery Ruzin, the high relief will perpetuate the memory of the military Victory Parade, which took place on June 24, 1945 on Red Square in Moscow to commemorate the Victory of the Soviet people and its armed forces over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945.”

“The high relief will affirm the Victory in the memory of descendants and in our reality today and tomorrow. We understand with you that this or that understanding of history determines the position of countries, peoples in the political today. And it is with the degradation of historical memory that some events that are irreversible from a historical point of view begin, which we are witnessing today...”, - Ruzin said.

The first Victory Parade on Moscow's Red Square took place on June 24, 1945, shortly after the end of World War II. Konstantin Rokossovsky commanded the Parade and Georgy Zhukov took it. 12 consolidated regiments were formed to participate in the parade. Each regiment had over a thousand of the most distinguished fighters, including Heroes of the Soviet Union and holders of the Order of Glory. The commanders of the fronts and armies marched in front of the regiments.

A combined regiment of drummers, Moscow garrison units, an orchestra of 1,400 musicians also participated in the parade. In general, about 40,000 servicemen and about 1,850 units of military equipment passed through Red Square. The air force part was canceled due to non-flying weather. At the end of the procession 200 banners of the defeated German troops were thrown to the foot of the Mausoleum of the founder of the Soviet state, Vladimir Lenin (Ulyanov).
