Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly met with the Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations

On December 1, 2021, at the headquarters of the Eurasian Peoples 'Assembly in Moscow, the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrei Belyaninov met with the Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga.

The meeting was also attended by:

  • Nguyen Thi Thu Jiang, Deputy Director General of the European Department of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations;
  • Nguyen Quoc Hung, Director of the Traditions and Friendship Foundation for the Promotion of Russia-Vietnam Cooperation;
  • To Thi Tuiet Khanh, Advisor to the Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, representative of the Vietnam Banking Academy in the Russian Federation;
  • Svetlana Smirnova, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly;
  • Alexander Ivanov, Co-Chairman of the Council for International Economic Activity of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly;
  • employees of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.

The meeting discussed issues of development and deepening of economic, humanitarian, scientific and international cooperation with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam with the participation of partners of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly and structures of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Societies.

Andrey Belyaninov's initiative to cooperate in promoting the removal of customs barriers within the competence of both organizations was positively received. It was developed in the proposal of the Vietnamese side to organize consultations on the creation of free trade zones with the involvement of interested parties, including a high-level one.

The parties also discussed the prospects for educational cooperation in training specialists for the agricultural sector and attracting representatives of large agricultural business to cooperation in these matters.

Special attention was paid to the implementation of joint events at the sites of the UN and ASEAN international organizations. The Vietnam side invited the Eurasian Peoples 'Assembly to consider the possibility of participating in the Asia Europe Peoples' Forum.

Touching upon a wide range of topics of interaction in the sphere of economics, digitalization, education and science, the parties did not ignore the issues of humanitarian cooperation, which continues the tradition of close friendly ties between Russia and Vietnam for decades, including the common historical memory of the Second World War. The Vietnam delegation put forward a proposal to expand interaction between the organizations of veterans of Eurasian countries.

The parties also agreed to continue cooperation on the development of a plan for the creation and opening in Moscow (Russia) of a Vietnam Cultural Center to provide support in the study of culture and native language to ethnic Vietnamese and children from mixed families.
