Russkiy Mir: Russian Language Olympiad held in Italy

The Russian Language Olympiad in Italy brought together over five hundred participants. Russian-speaking students and bilingual children from Russian schools in Italy demonstrated their knowledge. The contest was timed to coincide with the International Day of Native Languages and the bicentenary of the outstanding teacher and writer Konstantin Ushinsky, the Russian House in Rome telegram channel reports.

The contest took place in the Russian school "Harmony". The organizers were amazed at the number of participants who joined the Olympiad as part of the starting round. At the second stage, which was held in full-time format, schoolchildren from Rome, Florence and other Italian cities took part in the event.

The Olympiad ended with a summing up ceremony and a creative program, in which students read stories by Konstantin Ushinsky. The decisive stage and the award ceremony were held with the support of the Russian House in Rome and the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.

At the end of February, the results of the Russian Language Olympiad were summed up in Cyprus. 65 participants demonstrated their knowledge, including young Russian compatriots and Cypriots. The best participants received books by Russian classics in Greek translations.
