The Action dedicated to the anniversary of the meeting on the Elbe was held in Moscow on April 25. On this day 76 years ago, soldiers of the Soviet and American armies met. The event was organized by the International Council of Russian Compatriots ( ICRS), the Club of Military Leaders of the Russian Federation, the American University in Moscow and other organizations.

The participants gathered in the Arbat square "Ecology", where five years ago a memorial sign "Meeting on the Elbe" was installed. It is popular with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Russian and American public figures.

According to the Head of the ICRS, Hasan Mirzoev, the celebration of the anniversary of the meeting on the Elbe is a great occasion to remember the time when our countries fought together against a common enemy, to pay tribute to the veterans and to honor the memory of the victims. This ceremony is an appeal to the leaders of the world powers to realize their great responsibility to their peoples and to find ways out of the crisis in relations between the two states.

The Action continued in the Victory Park on Poklonnaya Gora at the memorial sign "Spirit of the Elbe". The participants of the ceremony dedicated to the meeting on the Elbe planted trees as part of the International Action "Garden of Peace" organized by the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, the Russian House "Continent of the USA" and others, Russkiy Mir reported. The beginning was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the meeting on the Elbe. The campaign is held under the slogan "Save the world - Plant a Tree - Save the Planet". Its key task is to consolidate all of humanity in the name of peace, tranquility and development of our planet.

The flags of Russia and the United States were raised to the sounds of military tunes played by a brass band. In addition, an international teleconference "Meeting on the Elbe" was organized. Politicians, scientists and businesspersons from Russia, the United States, Ukraine and a number of other countries attended it.

The speakers noted the importance of preserving the memory of the events of the Second World War, the need to solve modern problems of international security, and spoke about supporting partnership relations between Russia and the United States. They also offered new ideas for preserving the planet from military, climate, and other threats.
