Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Andrey Belianinov and Chairman of the Spiritual Board of Buddhists Geshe Yonten concluded an agreement on co-operation in the spheres of project activities. The spiritual, moral and ethical basis of one of the main religious confessions all over the world is the most important component of people's diplomacy - without any borders, boundaries and restrictions.

Buddhism, or the historical philosophical and religious path of doctrine and discipline, is 2268 years old. Along with Christianity and Islam, it is one of the three major faiths worldwide. The traditional Russian areas where Buddhism is practiced are Buryatia, Tyva and Kalmykia. According to the Russian Association of Buddhists, the number of followers of Buddhism in the country currently exceeds 1.5 million, but there are more than one billion followers of the true path of dharma in the world and mainly in the countries of Southeast Asia.

Geshe Yonten, Chairman of the Central Spiritual Administration of Buddhists, received his monastic education in India, at the Buddhist monastery-university of Drepung Gomang, and connected his life path with the Buddha's philosophy. At a meeting with Andrei Bellyaninov at the Assembly headquarters, Venerable Geshe raised the issues of cooperation in science, education and sports in the context of universal and civilizational traditional values.

Peacefulness is what is particularly attractive in Buddhism, which unites people and nations across borders and distances. In 2025, Kalmykia will become the centre of attraction for Buddhists all over the world, the republican capital will host the Summit of Buddhist countries of the world. The Head of the Republic of Kalmykia Batu Khasikov discussed with Geshe Yonten the events that will be attended by tens of thousands of residents and guests of Elista. Among the participants of this important event for followers of all schools of Buddha will also be represented partner public organizations of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly from countries, where Buddhism has historically been an integral part of life. The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly is actively involved in the work in this integrative direction.
