On June 22, the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly held an international memorial action dedicated to 81 years since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. Eighteen countries took part in the event, including the USA, Portugal, France, Belgium, Kazakhstan, China and other countries of near and far abroad.

Film producer and journalist Dmitry Kornilov joined the action. A descendant of the hero of the Crimean War, he was born and raised in France, however, in his own words, he never lost touch with his native culture. Dmitry Kornilov took part in the memorial action by recording a short video message at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Paris. “This is a very important day for me, because in France we have forgotten a little about it: there are no commemorating events,” - said the film producer.

Valery Davydovich Ruzin, Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, noted: “There is not a single family in the entire space of the vast country of the Soviet Union that this tragedy would not have touched. All the peoples of the Soviet Union participated in the war and contributed to the Victory: they either fought at the front, or worked for the front in the rear, cured the wounded. Of course, we must remember that all nations won, and the contribution of each nation to the Victory is invaluable.

Everyone could join the action, regardless of citizenship and location. To do this, those who wished, had to lay flowers or put a candle at a memorial place, fixing their participation on camera, and, if desired, record a short video message. The finished materials will be posted on the official website of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly. Also, participants could post their photos and videos on social networks with hashtags: #June 22 #eurasiaassembly #wontogether #victorioustogether #Assembly of Eurasian Peoples #Day of RemembranceSorrow #immortalmemoryane.

The action has been held by the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly for more several years as part of the Immortal Memory megaproject, which is engaged in maintaining relations with the peoples of Greater Eurasia based on spiritual and moral values. The purpose of the action is “to remind of the historic day of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, to show that the memory of one of the most tragic pages in the history of the 20th century will forever remain in the hearts of people who lived together in a single country, went through all the hardships of a terrible war, survived and won.”
