July 30 this year, on the International Day of Friendship, the Museum-Reserve "Kuzminki-Lyublino" has become a center of rapprochement and interpenetration of cultures of different countries.

On this day, more than 15 thousand visitors to the park became participants in the large-scale International Festival "Musical Eurasia", organized by the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly and the Government of Moscow.

Residents and guests of the capital learned Chinese calligraphy, the art of dressing in a national Japanese costume, playing Indian and Indonesian folk musical instruments. They got acquainted with the national art, traditions and customs of India, Indonesia, China, Japan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, South Ossetia, Russia.

The festival was opened by a performance of the “Ladov Day” Folklore Theater from Krasnoyarsk on the central stage of the park. The artists performed Russian folk songs in a modern arrangement, and introduced the audience to Russian rituals, amusements and games. Since its inception in 2002, the team has positioned itself as a project filled with multicultural meaning and combining the regional features of folk national culture with modern cultural trends. The basis of the repertoire is Siberian folklore, but thanks to the bright presentation, each performance of the group becomes an incendiary show.

Our festival was successful because all around us were friends and in everything we felt the great support of the Moscow Government and the management of Kuzminki Park. In the course of preparation, everyone was united by such a great and strong love for the history, culture, music of each country, which turned out to be a large musical family - “Musical Eurasia,” said Elmira Shcherbakova, Deputy Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, at the opening of the festival.

The special role of culture, musical art, as the main value of all peoples and civilizations, the uniqueness of the project was noted by Sergey Bondarenko, Head of the Department for Support of International Projects of the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations of the City of Moscow:

“It is with great joy and interest that I take part in the opening of the new Moscow festival Musical Eurasia. This is a very important and necessary initiative, especially now, bringing together musical performers from nine countries of the continent. The main value of all peoples and civilizations was, is and will be - culture. And the universal, universally understandable language of culture is art. And above all - the art of music. After all, it is only thanks to emotional intelligence that a person comprehends the common spiritual values of goodness and mutual understanding, despite the difference in their cultural affiliation. It is especially valuable that the organization of the festival is dedicated to the International Friendship Day! This is confirmed by the unique program of the event, which brought together the music of Russia, Japan, India, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Spain and France. The Department of External Economic and International Relations of the City of Moscow actively supports the development of this necessary initiative, since Moscow's international policy is always open to mutually enriching cooperation between the cultures of different countries and peoples of the world. And, of course, the work of the festival must be continued, bringing it to an increasingly large-scale level worthy of the high mission of this unique project!”

Festival guests got acquainted with the traditional dances of Japan and heard the music of the Land of the Rising Sun. The program was presented by the “Kiseki no Hana” (“Wonderful Flowers”) group from Moscow. Its participants have been performing for more than 10 years with the support of the Japanese House cultural center.

Indonesia was represented by the “Gamelan Dadali” ensemble at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Moscow. “Gamelan Dadali” is the first Javanese gamelan group in Russia. Gamelan is an Indonesian orchestra of traditional instruments of the islands of Java and Bali, made of bronze. The basis of the orchestra consists of percussion musical instruments: metallophones, xylophones lying gongs, drums, various suspended gongs. The Javanese word Dadali, chosen for the name of the band, means garuda. The garuda is a mythical bird, the symbol of the Republic of Indonesia. Thus, Gamelan Dadali is a symbol of Indonesian culture in Moscow.

In the assembly hall, concurrently with the concert program of the festival, classes were held to teach traditional Japanese dance called “Tokyo-ondo”. Graceful movements could be mastered by anyone. And those who are interested in the ancient culture of Japan replenished their knowledge at the lecture “The Art of Amazing Japan”. The meeting was held by a teacher of Japanese, a specialist in the field of international relations, a master of MGIMO of the Russian Foreign Ministry Yuto Kimura.

The lecture hall of the “Kuzminki” park has become another festival site. There have been some exciting activities here. The teacher of playing the Indian musical instrument (tabla) Jignesh Sheth demonstrated its capabilities. Then the participants were offered to master the game on their own and were taught to make beautiful rhythms with their hands. An informative masterclass on Indian vocal was conducted by Aditi Joshi.

A master class on the art of Chinese calligraphy aroused great interest. The master spoke about the development of this art form and revealed the secrets of ancient calligraphers. Visitors signed up for the lesson in advance - the interest was so high.

The guest of honor of the festival was Natalya Zykova, candidate of art criticism, executive director of the Association of Musical Theaters, assistant to the artistic director of the Moscow Children's Variety Theater. Her lecture "Modern trends in the life of Russian musical theaters" aroused great interest both among those who are immersed in the creative life of the capital, and those who wanted to learn more about it "first hand".

The festival ended with a big concert of bright performances by the artists of the Moscow Ensemble of Caucasian Dances "ALLON", the Choreographic Ensemble of the Tajik Folk Dance "Nur", a youth group from Afghanistan, the Cultural Center at the Embassy of India in Moscow.
