International Round Table "Cultural Heritage: Modern Times" – Outcomes

On January 31, 2023, at the Egyptian-Russian Foundation for Culture and Science in Cairo, as part of the Art Unites Film Festival on the Days of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly in Egypt, the International Round Table “Cultural Heritage: New Times” was held.

Organizers: the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly and the Egyptian-Russian Foundation for Culture and Science.

The First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Svetlana Smirnova delivered a welcoming speech at the opening of the round table.

The purpose of the round table was to expand cultural cooperation between the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly and the Egyptian-Russian Foundation for Culture and Science, strengthen intercultural communication, and exchange views on the issues of mutual enrichment of cultures.

Among the main issues for discussion were: ways to preserve the cultural heritage as the cumulative spiritual experience of mankind, trends in the development of artistic and creative activities of representatives of the culture and art of the Eurasian countries.

Members of the international delegation of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, representatives of the Egyptian-Russian Foundation for Culture and Science and the creative community of different countries took part in the discussion.

Modern trends in the development of intangible cultural heritage were discussed by speakers from eight countries of the world: Vladimir Surovtsev - sculptor, People's Artist of the Russian Federation; Natalie Elverum - artist of the Norwegian Royal Theatre, art critic; Abdukakhor Kosimov - National Coordinator of the World Poetry Movement "World Without Walls" from the Republic of Tajikistan, Co-Chairman of the Literary Council of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly; Tatyana Gorkunova - writer, member of the Union of Russian Writers; Gulnabat Tekaeva - Head of the Turkmen Culture Society, member of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly; as well as representatives of Kazakhstan, Egypt, India and Macedonia.

As a result of the discussion, the participants of the round table came to the conclusion about the importance of developing intercultural cooperation, preserving and enhancing cultural traditions and values.
