Flowers laid at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Dushanbe

Today, June 22, on the "Walk of Glory" in Dushanbe (Republic of Tajikistan) a solemn meeting-requiem was held on the occasion of the Day of Memory and Sorrow. It was on this day in 1941 that the Great Patriotic War began, which claimed the lives of millions of citizens of the USSR.

Soldiers who died in evacuation hospitals, Heroes of the Soviet Union, veterans of war and labor, famous figures of science and culture are buried on the "Walk of Glory" of the Dushanbe cemetery.

Representatives of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly joined the meeting, laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and lit candles of memory.

The event was organized on the initiative of Gafur Shermatov, head of the Memory-201 search group supported by the Russian Embassy in Tajikistan, as a tribute to the memory of all those who died during the Second World War.

A delegation of representatives of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly and experts is currently in Dushanbe as part of the implementation of the project - the International Competition "Leader of Public Diplomacy" supported by the Presidential Grants Foundation.
