On November 24, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat Svetlana Smirnova took part in the International scientific and practical online conference “Chokan Valikhanov Creative Heritage: Synthesis of Eurasian Cultures”.

Svetlana Smirnova noted in her speech that the conference “Chokan Valikhanov Creative Heritage: Synthesis of Eurasian Cultures” will serve as a new stage in the development of intercultural dialogue between peoples of all continents:

- The high level of cooperation between the peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan is based on the powerful and solid foundation of our common past. The roots of our friendship and good-neighbourliness date back to the depths of the past centuries when the idea of a common Eurasian matrix was conceived.

The ideas of cultural unity of the peoples of Eurasia, set out in the works of Chokan Chingisovich Valikhanov and tested by him in public practice, have not been forgotten for years. Creators of contemporary Eurasianism still compare their ideas and projects with to his works.

Really, Chokan Valikhanov was completely immersed in the environment, which in our time is called Eurasian. Studying the way of life, customs, culture and traditions of different peoples of Eurasia, he, pushing the state borders, put dialogue and mutual understanding of peoples at the forefront. Olzhas Omarovich Suleimenov said about Valikhanov: “He is a man of the future - he lived in the past”.

Celebrating the 185th anniversary, we have the right to say that today a comprehensive study of the oriental heritage of Chokan Chingisovich Valikhanov shows that the assertion of universal human values and their perception by all peoples not only of the Eurasian continent, but also of the entire planet, remains the most important task of our time.
