The Eurasian Peoples' Assembly presented its Projects to Delegations from 20 Countries in Kazan

KAZAN. On May 25, in the Kazan City Hall hosted the training “Cities of Eurasia and Global Trends” organized by the world organization “United Cities and Local Authorities” (UCLG) together with the Mayor’s Office of Kazan. The three-day training in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan brought together 60 delegations from 20 countries, including China, Turkey, Lebanon, South Africa. In addition to representatives of the Eurasian branch of UCLG, presidents and members of the Asia-Pacific and Middle East branches, as well as the South African Union of Local Authorities, are in Kazan now.

Speaking at the opening of the training, the First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Svetlana Smirnova spoke about the projects of the organization EURADIA KIDS, "New Generation of Eurasia", "Greater Eurasia - Africa", "Days of the Assembly" in different countries, the International Action "Twinning of Memory" and others, noting the effectiveness of the development of horizontal ties and the increased role of people's diplomacy in the world.

“It is through the mechanisms of public diplomacy, relying on deep roots and national traditions, that the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly builds bridges of friendship and mutual understanding between peoples and countries,” said the First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, inviting the participants of the training to cooperate.

In her speech, she also emphasized that in a rapidly changing world, the main constant value is a person.

“Every person is born to be happy. Our common task, wherever we work, is to give a piece of warmth, to show care and attention in order to make a person happy. Today, more than ever, it is important to unite the efforts of sound forces in order to make this world kinder. So, our Eurasian family will become bigger and stronger,” said Svetlana Smirnova.

UCLG is a global network of municipalities, megacities and regions, as well as their associations, established in 2004 to strengthen the role of local and regional authorities in the global decision-making process. The United Nations recognizes UCLG as the main partner in working with local authorities.

The Eurasian branch unites the municipalities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia and other countries - 1/6 of the land and about 300 million people. The cities of the Eurasian branch host many events of national and international level. The headquarters of the branch is located in Kazan.
