The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly held a Round Table on ESG Standards

On April 19, 2022, the Department for Sustainable Development of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly held a round table on the topic "The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly - Leaders of Changes: ESG standards and the sustainable Development Agenda".

The event was attended by the Assembly's partners from Italy and Kazakhstan. The organizer and moderator of the meeting was Elena Repman, Head of the European Direction of the Department of Sustainable Development of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly.

The round table was attended by international experts: Prof. Marco Ricceri (Secretary General of the Eurispes Institute of Economic, Social and Political Studies, Rome, Italy); Prof. Enea Franza (University of Peace, Rome, Italy); Prof. Elvira Ruzieva (Associate Professor of the NOD Finance and Data Analytics, Candidate of Economics, Narkhoz University, Kazakhstan); Kira Kovnat, Head of the Department for Sustainable Development of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, as well as employees of the department.

The round table meeting discussed issues such as the specifics of the implementation of ESG standards in Europe and Asia, the transformation of corporate governance in the context of the 2030 Agenda, the role of multilateral development banks, the closed-loop economy and the principles of its development.

Special attention was paid to the issues of professional training of the main actors of the ongoing changes – experts on sustainable development. The importance of involving the partner base of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly in conducting research on ESG taxonomy features was noted.

The discussion was highly appreciated by the participants. The international round table is the first of the planned events dedicated to the issues of the 2030 Agenda, which will be held by the department on a regular basis, and the composition of international experts will be expanded.
