EURASIA KIDS # Victory75: Monument to Teens-Workers

18/04/2020 10:32

The monument dedicated to the labor valor of teenagers who worked in the rear has become an important historical place on the Izhevsk map.

It was opened on November 7, 2019 in the capital of Udmurtia. Its official name is the People’s monument “To the Udmurtia Armourers”. But everyone understands that this is a monument to children who, in their difficult childhood, worked at factories on the same footing as adults. The composition of the monument is three teenage workers surrounded by granite pylons with original photographs and documents of that time. The workers of the plant No. 622 became the prototype of the monument.

The Great Patriotic War affected everyone. There is no family that it spared. Many went to the front to fight the enemy, some remained in the rear and made weapons, tanks or gathered foodstuffs and made clothes for soldiers to the front. And even after 75 years, we all remember the feat of our great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers who never complained of adversity.

Today, on April 18, the International Day for Monuments and Sites, we recall their labor feat.
