Eurasia Kids. March 21 – World Down Syndrome Day

21/03/2020 20:00

“We are the Galaxy children”. This song would be the leitmotif of the "Sunny World" community event, which did not take place due to known reasons. It would bring together parents who have children with Down syndrome.

This day was first celebrated in 2006. The idea to make this date annual was proposed by the Greek geneticist Stylianos Antonarakis from the University of Geneva. At the VI International Symposium on Down syndrome, held in Palma de Mallorca, on the initiative of the boards of the European and World Associations "Down Syndrome" it was decided to declare March 21 as the World Down Syndrome Day. This date was chosen not by chance, as Down syndrome is associated with 3 copies of the 21st chromosome.

These people are also called "solar." Benevolence and openness, naivety and generosity are the main distinguishing features of people with Down syndrome. And they are incredibly talented and wise in their own way. They play sports, play in the theater, draw. But the main thing is that they say - "I am in this world".

This is how children from the “Solar Fine Art Studio” see our Galaxy.
