Caravan trade routes are of increasing interest to travelers. The development of this area was discussed at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Prospects for the Development of Tourism on the Great Silk Road". It took place on June 24, 2023 in the north of Tajikistan, in the city of Khujand.
The first experience of holding such a platform on the margins of the International Trade Fair "Sughd-2023" turned out to be in demand. Tourism in Tajikistan is a young, dynamically developing industry.
As Anvar Yakubi, Deputy Chairman of the Sughd region, noted: “To look forward, you need to carefully look back.” The Tajik people have a rich history and traditions, and this is the foundation for the development of tourism infrastructure.
“The Silk Road of the Eurasian Culture: Linking the Eurasian Economic Union of the Belt and the Condition for the Development of Tourism” - Valery Ruzin, Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, President of the Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio, spoke at the conference.
Marina Plyasunova, Deputy Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, noted the special role of communication as the basis for the successful development of the tourism market and suggested that such conferences be held annually.
All participants voiced the idea of the high significance of such meetings in the speeches. The idea of uniting tourism routes under the umbrella of the Great Silk Road generated much interest and showed that the participants were thinking in the same paradigm - culture and economy are inseparable from each other.
It was decided now to begin preparations for the next conference, which will be held as part of the tenth anniversary International Trade Fair "Sughd" in 2024 in Khujand and will become a permanent platform for building communications between participants in the tourism industries of the countries of Greater Eurasia.
The organizers of the International scientific and practical conference "Prospects for the development of tourism on the Great Silk Road" were the Executive body of state power of the Sughd region, the Committee for the Development of Tourism under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "The Eurasian Peoples' Assembly", the Academy of Tourism and International Relations, Public organization “Zarafshan Tourism Development Association”.
The conference was attended by representatives of industry associations, professional associations in tourism and hospitality, state and municipal authorities, heads of specialized travel agencies and specialists in the tourism sector, investors in tourism infrastructure.
