The Great Patriotic War became a huge test for all the peoples of the Soviet Union, including the Kazakh people. An outstanding military leader, war hero Bauyrzhan Momyshuly wrote:

"The war was a turning point in the history of the Kazakh people, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of millions of our compatriots."

Soviet Kazakhstan sent more than 1 million 200 thousand people to the front. Half of the fighters did not return home. Over 500 Kazakhstanis received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. 142 Kazakhstanis became Knights of the Order of Glory of three degrees. The memory of the Great Patriotic War is an integral part of the country's history.

The monument "Otan Korgaushylar" is one of the most beautiful in the country. Its central figure is a woman who holds a golden bowl in her hands, symbolizing peace and prosperity. An eternal flame burns at its foot. The stele, consisting of 101 ears of wheat, embodies the idea of the unity of all nations living in Kazakhstan. The bas-relief on the right depicts Soviet soldiers, on the left - Kazakh batyrs who defeated the Dzhungars.

The Great Patriotic War became the highest manifestation of the invincibility and friendship of peoples, gave the world hundreds of thousands of examples of this very friendship, when trouble and victory are one for all.
