The Capital of Russia hosts Open Chess Tournament between the “Silver Age” and Youth Teams

Today, on March 31, the Open Chess Tournament among pensioners started in Moscow. Young people, along with people of the “silver age” can compete for victory.

The main organizers are the Union of Pensioners of Russia, the Moscow Government and the Moscow Chess Federation.

The team of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly participates in the tournament. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Head of the General Secretariat for Economic Cooperation - Chief of Staff of the Secretary General Anton Martynyuk, Head of the Department for Youth Cooperation Marianna Grigorovich, Head of the Department for Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation Yulia Andreeva.

According to the results of the Open Chess Tournament, our team is in the top four, thanks to the activists and volunteers of the Eurasia Youth Assembly Dmitry Sukhachev and Georgy Nazarov.

It is Russia, earlier - the USSR, that leads in popularity of chess in the world. Also, its worth noting the “chess” countries: India, Austria, Cuba, Germany, Holland, USA, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria and Norway.

Recall, multiple World Champion, Honoured Master of Sports of the USSR, International Grandmaster Anatoly Karpov is Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrei Belyaninov. At a meeting on January 21, Anatoly Karpov and Andrei Belyaninov discussed the creation of conditions for strengthening trust and cooperation between countries through sports diplomacy and, as an example, the international program “Chess for Peace”.
