Astrakhan will host an International Round Table and Training for Caspian Non-Governmental Organizations

In 2021 the “Caspian-Eurasia” Centre for International and Public Research celebrates its fifth anniversary. Two major international events are timed to coincide with this date. These are the International Round Table "Perspective Map of Public Projects of the Caspian Region - 2025: Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan" and media training for NGOs leaders "Public Diplomacy Projects in Social Media of the Caspian Region Countries". The events will take place in Astrakhan on April 16 and 17.

The organizers of the meetings are the Centre for International Studies "Caspian-Eurasia" and the Political Science Centre "North-South" (Moscow, Russia). The events are supported by the Agency for International Relations of the Astrakhan Region and the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan).

On the first day of the meeting – April 16 - non-governmental organizations of the Caspian region will discuss issues and exchange experiences at the round table "Perspective map of public projects in the Caspian region - 2025: Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan". The agenda includes the following issues for discussion:

  1. The Caspian Agenda until 2025: Features of Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation.
  2. The role of non-governmental organizations and the civil sector in the development of humanitarian projects and initiatives in the Caspian.
  3. Successful practices in organizing the work of non-governmental organizations: the experience of the States of the Caspian region.

Speakers and participants of the discussion will include: Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Astrakhan Mehdi Akuchakian, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astrakhan Tauboldy Umbetbaev, Consul of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan Guich Garayev, Head of the Administration of the Governor of the Astrakhan region Pavel Pautov, Head of the International Relations agency of the Astrakhan region Vladimir Golovkov, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Svetlana Smirnova, Rector of Astrakhan State Technical University Alexander Nevalenny, media expert, Deputy General Director of the International Information Agency "Trend" Gulnara Mamedzade, President of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan Banu Nurgazieva, Deputy Head of the General Secretariat for International Cooperation of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Yulia Petrova, representative of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives of the Astrakhan region Alexander Soloviev and others.

On the second day of the program - April 17 – the leaders of non-governmental organizations will have media training "Public diplomacy projects in social media of the Caspian region". Intensive work in this area will allow the participants of the event to improve their skills in working with media. Experts, including leading editors, journalists, marketers, offer the following topics for training:

  • Content Marketing Basics. Creation of multi-genre content. Social media promotion methods.
  • NGOs and mass media - how to work together;
  • Opportunities for communication promotion of the activities of non-governmental organizations
  • Media technologies in the service of NGOs (secrets of creating "tasty" video content)

Among media experts there are such well-known names in the media environment of the Caspian region as journalist, media expert, Deputy General Director of the International Information Agency "Trend" Gulanara Mamedzade (Baku, Azerbaijan), journalist and political scientist Zhanar Tulindinova (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan), Executive Director of PR-agency IMARS Alexander Revsky (Moscow, Russia), blogger Roman Kolymzhanov (Astrakhan, Russia), head of the marketing agency "MIX" Marina Linko (Astrakhan, Russia).

Both events will take place offline and online (on Zoom and YouTube platforms).

The round table "Perspective Map of Public Projects of the Caspian region - 2025: Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan" will take place on April 16, at 10:00 local time. Location: st. Tatishcheva, 16, Main building of ASTU, room 231.

The media training "Public Diplomacy Projects in Social Media of the Caspian region" will take place on April 17, at 09:00 local time.
