On November 23, 2024 in Moscow (Russia), the XXIII Eurasian High Fashion Contest of National Costume ‘Etno Erato’ ended.
Hundreds of talented masters from different cities and regions of Russia, as well as other countries of the world: Tanzania, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Georgia, Tajikistan took part in it.
Fashion designers presented their collections in 9 nominations: ‘The Best Slavic Costume’, ‘The Best Costume of the Caucasus Peoples’, ‘The Best Oriental Costume’, ‘The Best Costume of Finno-Ugric Peoples’, ‘The Best Costume of the Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East’, ‘The Best Costume of the Peoples of Africa’, ‘Retro National Costume’, ‘Ethnic Motifs in Modern Costume’, ‘Ethnic Stage Costume in Action’.
On November 23, the Gala Concert ‘Ethno Erato-2024’ gathered the winners of the contest, who were awarded statuettes of Ethno Erato, special prizes, as well as diplomas of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degrees. The ceremony was opened by Sergey Khanutin, Executive Director of the Eurasian and African Peoples’ Assembly. Speaking about the need to preserve the national identity and traditional culture of the peoples, he emphasized the importance of the link between generations in strengthening spiritual and moral values.
The Eurasian and African Peoples’ Assembly has been supporting the Ethno Erato project since 2017, co-organizing the competition, annually establishing a special prize and participating in the awarding of winners. This year, ‘Golden Needle’ the special prize of the Assembly was awarded to the youngest contestant - Angelina Vasilieva. The student of the St. Petersburg University of Industrial Technologies and Design became the winner in the nomination ‘A hopeful couturier’. The Eurasian and African Peoples’ Assembly also presented 25 letters of thanks to the jury members, organizers and participants of the Gala Concert. Nadezhda Khomchenko (Ufa State College of Technology and Design) received a special award ‘Golden Scissors with a Diamond’ for her collection ‘Nomads of the Grey Urals’.
A large-scale and bright defile of national costume took place on the stage of the Plekhanov Russian Economic University Congress Centre, uniting experienced masters, young designers and university students with a sincere interest in folk culture. Original combinations of fabrics, leather, embroidery, national headdresses and jewelry in the presented collections created a unique style of the fashion festival that left no one indifferent. Creative approach and innovative solutions proved that traditional culture harmoniously combines with modern fashion trends.
