The Eurasian and African Peoples’ Assembly, as part of the Vladimir Menshov “Won Together” Film Marathon, organized film screenings at the All-Russian Children's Center “Orlyonok”.
The documentary film about the five-time Olympic champion, member of the Soviet Union national team, track and field athlete Igor Ter-Hovanesyan, scripted and directed by Sergei Golovetsky, was received very well by the pupils of the June vacation shift of the All-Russian Children's Center "Orlyonok". The film screening was timed to coincide with Russia Day and, of course, a personal example of great achievements in sports and life - exactly what the director tried to convey to the younger generation in the largest children's recreation network in the Krasnodar region near Tuapse.
The idea behind the title of the largest Eurasian film marathon “Won Together”, held with the support of the Eurasian and African Peoples’ Assembly and the Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio, is as accessible and understandable to modern schoolchildren. This is an example of heroism, in the case of Sergei Gorodetsky’s film - heroics in big-time sports. The screening of the documentary film “Flight of the Champion” and a creative meeting with the director brought together schoolchildren from different regions of Russia who are interested in filmmaking.
Igor Ter-Hovanesyan has done a lot in big-time sports. He is a world champion in long jump and was a member of the Soviet Union national team for 17 years. He won the Olympics five times and set a number of personal records - such as jumping 8.35 meters in 1967 in high altitude conditions at the games in Mexico City. Pride in the champion, in one’s country and the strong character of the hero is an excellent incentive and example of personal motivation for the audience of the movie marathon in “Orlyonok”. The boys still have almost everything ahead of them, and the eaglets are learning to fly again.
“Sergey Golovetsky is a man who knows his business. He tried to convey in such a short time what a documentary film is and why it is so important to make them. I am familiar with some of his works, but now I want to see everything even more. Who knows, maybe in the future I will become a director myself,” shared Polina Dankovtseva from the Lipetsk region.
The guys learned how the creation of a documentary film begins, how they find the main characters and what stages the film crew goes through on the way to creating a film. Member of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, member of the Board of the Documentary Film Association Sergei Golovetsky answered all the guys’ questions; he was not allowed to leave the hall for a long time.
Certificates of Honor from the Eurasian and African Peoples' Assembly were presented to the Director of the All-Russian Children's Center "Orlyonok" Alexander Dzheus and the Head of the department of organizational support of programs Alesya Chernykh.
The festival is held with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
