Grigory Ordzhonikidze stressed that "there is not even such a procedure"

KAZAN, 6 December. /TASS/. The West will not be able to force Russia to leave UNESCO by its demarches. This opinion was expressed to TASS on Tuesday by the Executive Secretary of the Russian Commission for UNESCO, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigory Ordzhonikidze on the sidelines of the International Forum on the 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention in Kazan.

"No, absolutely. There is simply no such a procedure. For this, it is first necessary that the Russian Federation withdraw from the UN, and only then ... And this is also impossible," - Ordzhonikidze answered the question of a TASS correspondent whether the West with its demarches could force Russia leave UNESCO.

Commenting on the proposal put forward the day before by the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrey Belyaninov on the creation of the Eurasian UNESCO, which, among other things, will conduct an inventory of cultural and natural values, Ordzhonikidze noted that the idea is feasible.

"As an idea, it is, of course, capable of life, because such organizations already exist, there is ISESCO - an Islamic organization for education and culture, there is ALESCO - a Latin American intergovernmental organization. Belyaninov said about such a thing, quite possible to implement," - said Ordzhonikidze.

December 5 to 8, Kazan hosts the UNESCO International Forum dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. This convention is one of the most effective and recognized international instruments developed under the auspices of UNESCO. For 50 years, within the convention, the World Heritage List has been formed - a list of outstanding cultural and natural attractions of universal value and requiring special protection.
