Secretary General will take part in the Roundtable Meeting of the RF CCI and UNIDO on the Implementation of the Stockholm Convention on POPs

On April 6, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation will host a roundtable meeting “Fulfillment of the International Obligations of the Russian Federation on the Implementation of the Provisions of the Stockholm Convention by 2025, in particular, on the inventory and elimination of accumulated environmental damage of substances of the 1st hazard class that are especially hazardous to human health, namely, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) contained in electrical equipment”, organized by the Committee on Environmental Management and Ecology of the RF CCI. The event is supported by the UNIDO Center for International Industrial Cooperation and the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations “Eurasian Peoples' Assembly”.

Among the speakers and participants of the round table will be representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, representatives of the ANO “Ravnopravie”, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the UNIDO Center in the Russian Federation and others.

The event will discuss issues related to the danger and toxic effects of PCBs, the requirements of the Stockholm Convention on the management of persistent organic pollutants, the timing of the implementation of the national plan, the environmental responsibility of enterprises, the inventory of PCB-containing equipment and the disposal of PCB waste.
