The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly strengthens ties with the Republic of Uzbekistan

On April 26, during the visit to Tashkent (Uzbekistan), the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly delegation held a working meeting at the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Relations with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed issues of multifaceted cooperation aimed at promoting the establishment of interethnic harmony, strengthening the atmosphere of friendship between the peoples of the Eurasian countries, preserving the traditions and customs of representatives of various nations and nationalities.

The Head of the delegation of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, First Deputy Secretary General – Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Svetlana Smirnova and Adviser Chairman of the Committee Zafar Akhmedov discussed issues promising cooperation, proceeding from the intention to further develop cooperation of organizations on a long-term basis, taking into account the increasing role of integration processes on the Eurasian continent, realizing the important role of interaction of civil society institutions to strengthen the friendship of peoples.

The Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Relations with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan holds conferences, seminars, round tables, exhibitions, concerts, days of Uzbek culture and other events aimed at promoting Uzbek culture, Uzbek language, distinctive national traditions, customs and rituals of the Uzbek people, to maintain good-neighborly equal, friendly relations on a regular basis.

Currently, 38 Friendship Societies with different countries work under the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Relations with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In turn, members of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly are representatives of non-governmental organizations from more than 50 countries.

The large joint potential of the organizations provides new opportunities for the parties to establish peace and harmony by means of public diplomacy.
