Eurasian Bridges of Friendship unite Ambassadors of Public Diplomacy

On April 23, 2021, an international video conference of the Houses of Friendship of the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan was held as part of the International Forum of Friendship Houses "Eurasian Bridges of Friendship".

This is already the fifth major event of the project, which is being implemented by the All-Russian Public Movement "Co-Creation of Peoples for Life" (Senezh Forum) in partnership with the Assembly of peoples of Russia, the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly with financial support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.

The goal of the project is to unite representatives of Houses of Friendship and ethno cultural associations of Eurasian countries in the implementation of joint international projects to expand the processes of public diplomacy.

The meeting was moderated by the project leaders and leaders of the All-Russian public movement "Co-Creation of Peoples for Life" (Senezh forum) Nazirzhon Abduganiev and Sergei Kuchinsky. The meeting participants were greeted by Svetlana Smirnova, Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of Peoples of Russia, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.

Another country has joined this international project. Participation in the conference of representatives of Tajikistan was a big event. Musharrafa Sharipova, Deputy Chairman of the Tajik Society for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries (TODKS) and Mehrinisso Nagzibekova, a well-known Tajik Russianist, head of the Russian philology department of the Tajik National University, chairman of the Tajik society of friendship "Tajikistan-Russia", spoke about the activities of their organizations. TODKS has been operating in the republic for 63 years. The society did not stop working for a single day, even during the years of the civil war that ended the 20th century in Tajikistan. Musharrafa Vakhidovna noted that the feeling of friendship that unites members of society often works stronger and more efficiently than official diplomacy. The conference participants noted that the story about the multifaceted activities of their Tajik colleagues testifies to the enduring values of friendship and unity that were inherent in the peoples of the Soviet Union. Such societies were created in all union republics; today they remain only in Tajikistan and Belarus.

The head of the culture department of the Tashkent and Uzbekistan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Igor Fedenko invited the participants of the meeting in September this year to Tashkent to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Diocese and the 800th anniversary of the Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky.

The heads of Russian Houses of Friendship in the format of presentations demonstrated international projects. The projects involve foreign colleagues are open to new participants. Director of the Ivanovo House of Nationalities Nikolai Karika presented the project "Memory, Scorched by War, the Memory We Preserve". He spoke about the great and important work to perpetuate the memory of Soviet soldiers of different nationalities who fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War and were buried in the Ivanovo region, where they were being treated for wounds received in battles. Director of the Samara House of Friendship Igor Burov presented the Online Marathon "Kaleidoscope of Tea Traditions of the Peoples of Eurasia" dedicated to the International Tea Day, which will be held in 2022. Deputy of the House of Friendship of Tatarstan Natalia Myasnikova presented the International Holiday-Festival of Turkic and Iranian Peoples "NAURUZ" ONLINE that will take place in 2022. Antonida Koryakina, director of the Kulakovsky House of Friendship of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) invited to participate in the Relay of ethnic innovations "House of Friendship of Peoples - the territory of commonwealth and public diplomacy." Director of the Omsk House of Friendship Natalya Stepanova presented the project "Ethno design and Time" – an open-air vernissage. She invites partners to participate in the International Forum of Border Territories of the Russian Federation and CIS Countries "Let friendship be sincere and honest".

Igor Krugovykh, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia, Head of the Moscow City Regional Branch of the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia, presented a joint project of Russian and Uzbek scientists - the 1st volume of a scientific and artistic publication of the great poet Alisher Navoi's manuscripts. I.E. Krugovykh prepares to publish the 2nd volume of Navoi's unknown manuscripts. It will be presented in Tashkent in autumn 2021.

The international project "Eurasian Bridges of Friendship" is gaining strength. It units people of goodwill, ambassadors of public diplomacy, and is open to partners of all countries.
