EURASIA KIDS International Friendship Club: I read Pushkin in My Native Language

On the eve of the International Mother Language Day, the Library of History of the city of Tyumen (Russia) hosted readings of poems by Alexander Pushkin. The poems were recited in Russian, Tatar, Armenian, Romanian, French and English. The contest was held in three age categories - junior, middle and senior.

For the second year, the oldest library of the city of Tyumen has come up with an initiative to hold a literary competition “Let's read Pushkin!” Schools and universities of the city joined the initiative. This year the contest was timed to coincide with the International Mother Language Day, so the contest participants recited poetry in different languages. First of all, the event was aimed at fostering respect for the cultural heritage of the Great Russian poet and the linguistic culture of the peoples of the world. The works of the great classic unite people of all ages, religions, nationalities, and are translated into dozens of languages of the world.

Talented Tyumen schoolchildren presented a parade of national costumes for the contest guests; there were also heroes of Pushkin's fairy tales among the participants. The poem “Winter Morning” was sung in French by Augustine Macango. Anastasia Isipchuk recited a poem in Romanian in memory of her ancestors. Many poems were sung in the Tatar language. Adelina Ibatullina received the 1st degree diploma for excellent reciting in her native Tatar language. The best performers were awarded diplomas and valuable gifts from the EURASIA KIDS International Friendship Club.
