The Governor noted that last year the city of Sysert was awarded the status of "UNESCO Learning City". The administration of Yekaterinburg supported by the Government of the Sverdlovsk Region, has prepared an application to join the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities. Recall, exactly 20 years ago, in 2001, UNESCO adopted the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity, and a year later the UN General Assembly in its resolution proclaimed May 21 as the World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.
