An expanded meeting of the Public Council of the Regional Representation of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russia) was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan Andrey Nazarov was held within the international forum “Sport. Leadership. Unity” in Ufa on September 3 - 4.

The meeting discussed measures aimed at supporting the sports industry.

Forum “Sport. Leadership. Unity" opens a cycle of events dedicated to the large-scale international competitions in ethnic sports "Towards Eurasiada", which will be held in Ufa in 2024.

“These days the traditional Ufa International Marathon is being held in the republic. Of course, the combination of the marathon and the forum gives a powerful synergistic effect. This will bring together more than 6,000 participants from 30 countries and 11 Russian regions. I am sure that it is through sport, spirituality and national cohesion that we are able to strengthen friendship and constructive cooperation between countries and peoples,” - Andrey Nazarov said.

The Prime Minister noted that great attention is paid to the development of sports in Bashkortostan.

“The construction of the Palace of Wrestling and the Fencing Center has begun. A complex for rowing slalom is being built. The Gymnastics Center named after Olympic champion Svetlana Khorkina has already opened. At the same time, we are developing new sports that are interesting for the population, for example, obstacle racing. A unique track has been created for holding competitions in Patriot Park, which is one of the longest in Russia,” - Andrey Nazarov said.

The Prime Minister emphasized that grants for non-profit organizations for holding mass sports events have been established in Bashkortostan since this year as a support measure. The total amount of allocated grants in the current year amounted to 50 million rubles. In particular, a subsidy from the Ministry of Sports of the Republic was also allocated for the implementation of the international forum “Sport. Leadership. Unity".

According to the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Bashkortostan Ruslan Khabibov, the Republic of Bashkortostan is one of the leading sports regions of the country.

“In the ranking of regions in terms of the number of sports facilities, Bashkortostan ranks second among the constituent entities of Russia after Moscow - this is more than 13 thousand sports facilities. The number of residents of the republic systematically engaged in physical culture and sports is increasing. If in 2019 this percentage was 45.2% (1.6 million people), then by 2021 it has increased to 52.3% (1.9 million people), what is higher than the Russian average,” - the minister said.

He also noted that in recent years the republic has managed to increase funding for the sports industry, including by attracting funds from the federal budget.

Ruslan Kinzikeev, Head of the Committee for Business, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation with Italy, Deputy Chairman of the Public Council of the Representative Office, spoke about Bashkortostan interaction with the friendly Italian Republic, who made a proposal to include Italian coaches in the coaching staff of sports federations, which will help ensure the exchange of the best practices.

Representatives of the largest sports associations highly appreciated the business part of the forum held in the format of an "idea factory". In particular, the optimal development vectors for the industry were determined at the event. They touched upon mass children's and family sports, the organization of new sites for the placement of sports facilities, and further state support.

Unity”, which was held in Ufa on September 3-4, 2022. This is a unique platform where the discussion of government, business and the sports community takes place.

The event was organized by the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Basketball Federation of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Grappling Federation of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Football Federation of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Yunarmiya Regional Headquarters, the sports chess club "Tolpar", the Cybersport Federation of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Representative Office of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russia), the Directorate of the Ufa International Marathon.

Within the forum, a whole range of sports events were held: the Ufa International Marathon, the Grappling Wrestling Tournament of the Volga Federal District, competitions in basketball, chess, football, as well as in a new direction - cybersport.

Thanks to the association of the forum with the Ufa International Marathon, more than 6,000 participants from 30 countries of the world, 11 regions of the country took part in it.
